Can you power bash with a bow
Power bashes are also multiplied but the key part is when you take this perk even regular bashes are multiplied by a factor of 5; this may seem trivial but it does come into play with bows. As you can guess, Deadly bash gives bows a 5x multiplier to their bash damage as well which makes the high end bows, while nothing amazing, viable for bashing damage.
This concept will come up later and should be of great interest to all people who play as an archer. From this we can see two-handed weapons will have the highest bash damage output. A Dragonbone warhammer with both perks will be bashing for damage which is nothing to sneeze at. Before I finish this section I must include a few special items:. So now that we've finished with all the formalities let's get onto the really interesting part of bash damage, and my argument for why it is awesome.
This is where we go down the rabbit hole that is Skyrim modifiers and with a little creativity we can make a truly remarkable new weapon. Some of you probably saw this coming, to those that are interested in learning more about using this shout please refer to this discussion. For the shorthand version I'll restate the important information and explain how it relates to this discussion.
Marked for death damages an enemies 'Damageresist' Actor Value which makes them take increased damage. The total effect it has after the duration is complete is as follows:. When we use bashing as an attack it is considered physical damage and thus falls under the 'DamageResist' AV. What this means is as we modify this value we can also modify the bash damage we do; in this case our basic steel shield with a deadly bash will do the following:. I mentioned a Dragonbone warhammer doing damage per deadly bash early, after the full effect of MFD that same weapon can bash for a maximum of damage In conclusion bash damage is an amazing weapon and can be more than viable, even on master difficulty!
This is a topic I have yet to cover for a specific reason but I decided to just go ahead and do it. Fortify Marksman Archery in Skyrim is a bit of a wonky topic to understand. Enchanting and Alchemy can often have very different properties and this is one of those cases where the two magical effects are very different. Many people are aware I hope that Fortify Marksman potions will boost the damage of all weapons and not just bows, people have been using this to boost dagger damage since the game came out.
While many people consider this a glitch it is debatable. Marksman potions multiply the physical damage value of your outgoing damage and while this seems like an obvious bug on the surface what I think they should have done is call it a fortify damage potion or something along those lines as it was never intended to be simply a potion for bows, at least that's not how it was coded. So what the hell does this mean? Just as 'Marked for Death' affects your enemies damageresist, 'Fortify Marksman' changes the offensive equivalent which is why all physical weapons benefit from it Bash damage is considered a physical attack so by using fortify potions we can boost the damage of our bashes!
Our crappy basic Steel shield is now doing almost damage, care to know what our friend Mr. Dragonbone warhammer can do? I'll save you the time and just tell you it's Remeber how I mentioned bows profit from the 'Deadly Bash' perk?
Is there something else a lot of archers use? Perhaps fortify marksman potions! This isn't directly tied into Bashing damage but it is something related to this discussion that people might find useful. How the 'Disarming Bash' perk works is as follows:. Plot 1 Answer. Ask A Question.

User Info: theonyxphoenix theonyxphoenix 9 years ago 1 Inspired by a few threads I had seen recently I decided to work on an Arcane Archer build. After IamI3rian's helpful Bow Bash thread I decided to take it a step further and see what perks worked with the bow bash.
The answers may surprise you. First of all I need to clarify between the regular bow bash and the exploit bow bash. Normally if you press the block button while equipped with a bow you will do a short melee attack. This attack uses stamina and staggers an opponent. Contrary to popular belief this IS affected by Deadly Bash. The higher the damage rating on the bow the more damage the bash will do which still isn't much.
BOW BASH The bow bash is mostly common knowledge but, for those not familiar with it: the exploit bow bash is achieved by firing an arrow and, before the bow comes to a resting position the position it would be in if you were standing still you must use the block button to bow bash.
You needn't hit with the original arrow and the bash doesn't have to be on the same target. You don't even need to fully draw the bow. Now the game continues to register the bow shot information until you either knock another arrow or the bow is at rest. This means that the bow bash retains ALL of the qualities of the arrow attack. It evens sounds like a bow attack.
This bow bash does not use any Stamina although you cannot use it if you have 0 Stamina. Paralyze, Fear, Turn Undead, etc. Special property arrows Sunhallowed Elven Arrows, etc. Just thought about what would happen if you were blocking with a shield in one hand and then cast Bound Bow in the other while holding block The first is particularly situational. You must be near a ledge.
Equip and fully draw the bow. Use Eagle Eye to zoom in and continue to hold it. When you land you should be bow blocking. Equip a shield.
Block and continue to hold the block button. Equip a bow either through the normal menu or the favorites. You should continue to block. Enemy missiles that strike you may also be added to your inventory.
If an arrow or bolt fired by you or an enemy misses its intended target, it can almost always be recovered from the ground or a nearby object, if you can find it. Note that missiles that strike non-flesh enemies, such as skeletons and mudcrabs, will often bounce back toward you. Enemies that break apart upon death such as skeletons will drop all the arrows you have shot them with when they die.
With the Eagle Eye perk, you can press the Block control to zoom in on your target. However, doing so slowly drains your Stamina , and cannot be maintained indefinitely. This effect allows you more time to think through and set up the shot. Although the action of drawing the bow will occur in slow-motion if you have not nocked the arrow before pressing the Block control, there is an exploit around this that can significantly increase DPS See Bugs.
Note that you cannot zoom in while under the effect of the Slow Time dragon shout, regardless of whether you have perks in Steady Hand or not. The nock stage appears to take about 0. The time required for a full draw depends on the bow, however; heavier bows tend to take longer to draw. Note that the base damage and DPS does not include any damage added from the enchantments that exist on some of the unique bows listed. As you can see above, bound bows are among the best in the game based on base damage, however as they cannot be tempered other bows will eventually overtake them.
You can also see that early in the game, the higher damage-dealing bows do the most damage, but as the damage outputs increase, it is the speed of the bow that becomes more important. In the table above, with quick shot and the best arrows, a long bow does more dps than a daedric bow. Your choice of arrow can also have a significant impact on dps early on, but as the damage from arrows is static they will be less influential on overall dps iron arrows result in a dps of 6.
A tempered long bow will eventually do more dps than all other bows except Zephyr, Auriel's Bow, and Froki's Bow, due to the nature of the formula.
Despite the daedric bow's high damage, its very slow speed is a severe limitation because of how the formula works. Auriel's Bow is the best bow in the game for dps, though at a huge cost of maximum damage. Karliah's Bow is the best in the game for maximum damage in one shot, and has the third best dps rating. However, the slow speed of Karliah's Bow will quickly see it slip behind the other best bows.
The dragonbone bow is a good compromise between speed and damage, and it is more than sufficient at higher levels. It has the high base damage that is used for sneak attack calculations the low base damage of Auriel's may not be enough to one-shot-kill many enemies.
The dragonbone bow has the added benefit over Zephyr and Auriel's Bow of being enchantable, allowing you your own custom enchantments that, with sufficient skill in enchanting, can push its dps well above the others. The primary factor affecting your maximum range is the global game setting fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist ; past this distance, your arrows will "phase through" targets without doing any damage.
The default value is distance units for reference, a weapon with a reach of "1" has a reach of distance units, by default. This issue has been addressed by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch ; it triples the default, to , which should always be enough that the arrow will always impact anything it can reach. The second most important factor is the projectile ; it has a maximum range which is typically not relevant, but can matter for the Riekling Spear DB , which has a maximum range of - most projectiles have ranges measured in the tens of thousands , a speed, which determines how quickly the projectile travels, and a gravity value, which determines how quickly the projectile drops higher is faster, for both.
Gravity tends to be the same for all of your arrows and bolts, but bolts travel significantly faster - the ammunition page covers these values.
These set the angle your projectiles fire at from bows the Arrow settings and crossbows DG Bolt in the first-person 1P and third-person 3P perspectives. A value of 0 is initially flat, along the bottom of the targeting reticle. Positive values tilt the projectile up. See the Notes section below for optimization. Range and Trajectory are also affected by bow speed.
