Where is hawkman and hawkgirl dc universe

Carter learns that his reincarnations have been not only across time, but also space, and in one of these incarnations he was Katar Hol of Thanagar. Due to Carter Hall's discovery of Nth Metal, he was able to fashion a belt and boots that allowed him to defy gravity, and the Nth Metal enhancement also gave him superior strength, durability, vision, and accelerated healing. Hall made a pair of artificial feathered wings laced with Nth metal that allow him to control his flight and navigation.

With these wings, he has achieved an airspeed of miles per hour. The Nth Metal knife which was used to kill Hawkman in his original Egyptian life as Khufu resulted in a kind of ongoing curse on his soul, which allowed him to reincarnate endlessly through the ages.

Because of his many, many lives, Hawkman is an expert in many different fighting styles, as well as a master of archaic weaponry, which is why he often carries a mace. Also due to so many lives, he is a genius level tactician and a truly fierce warrior. Although he has the same Nth Metal enhancements as Carter Hall, the Thanagarian Hawkman Katar Hol have certain extra abilities which are unique to his alien species. A Thanagarian's lifespan is far greater than that of an Earth human being, and they also have enhanced strength and greater durability than regular humans, greater vision, and other enhanced senses.

The Thanagarian Hawkman also has access to advanced alien technology that the Carter Hall version of Hawkman did not have. In this first appearance of the character, we are introduced to archeology buff Carter Hall, who receives an ancient Egyptian dagger made from a mysterious substance called Nth Metal. When Carter touches it, he suddenly remembers being the Egyptian Prince Khufu in a previous life, and how he and his paramour Chay-Ara were murdered by his enemy Hath-Set.

Remembering all of his previous life, he fashions and anti-gravity belt and boots from the metal as well as wings, and begins a heroic career as Hawkman. Two decades after the original Hawkman was introduced, a new version came on the scene. Decked in a very similar costume to the original, this Hawkman was the alien police officer Katar Hol. In his first Silver Age story, we see Hawkman and his wife come to Earth to capture the criminal shapeshifter named Byth. Deciding to stay on Earth to study human police methods, he and his wife Shayera becoming Earth's latest alien crime fighters.

This new, grittier take on Katar Hol explored his homeworld of Thanagar and its strict class system, as well as his troubled relationship with his father. He also met his new partner in the Thanagarian Wingmen, Shayera Thal. He sported a severe, armored look in this incarnation, as well as featherless metal wings. When the Justice Society of America reforms in the 21st Century, the original Hawkman returns once more.

Having been fused into a Hawk-God with Katar Hol years before, JSA member Hawkgirl Kendra Saunders found herself on war-torn Thanagar, where the high priests were hoping to use her special connection to Carter Hall to bring him back and stop the conqueror Onimar Synn from taking over their world. Using Kendra's soul connection, they brought back Hawkman to this plane of existence.

He rejoined the JSA in this storyline. A new Hawkman appears, going by the name of Carter Hall. He wears deadlier weapons on his gauntlets than previous versions, and is far more savage in battle than the Hawkmen of the past.

Although he is named Carter, it revealed that he is really Katar Hol from Thanagar, although at first he seems to have no memory of his previous life before arriving on Earth. Eventually, his true alien nature would be revealed to him. Golden Age The original Hawkman's story actually begins in the days of ancient Egypt, when he was known as Prince Khufu. The pair were then resurrected by White Lantern energy. But upon being reborn, Kendra was fully Shiera Hall once again, and remembered all of her previous lives.

Her brother Corsar took the throne and framed Katar for attempted murder, resulting in his accidentally shocking himself to death.

Shayera believed Katar had killed her brother, and ordered her men to arrest him for murder, but he managed to escape. Shayera tracked Katar to Earth, where she captured him. Although Shayera was able to capture Katar, she soon learned that her brother Corsar had faked his death in order to frame her great love. Realizing that she had wronged Katar, she let him go, and went off to fight her brother. The two were on board his starship when it exploded, presumably killing them both.

In this timeline, Shayera never actually took the name Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman. On this world, the despot known as Darkseid invaded and laid waste to a significant portion of the planet, killing its only heroes. Five years later, a new group of heroes emerged, and among them was Kendra Munoz-Saunders. She was asked to explore the tomb of Nabu, and when she did, she found herself mysteriously changed. In this timeline, Kendra was also once Chay-Ara in a previous life. But this Kendra was the leader of the Blackhawks -- a team working to stop the apocalypse -- as well as a member of the Council of Immortals, a gathering of the oldest known beings on Earth.

It was she who warned the Justice League of the invasion of the Dark Multiverse and later worked with the League to stop this invasion. Upon the reorganization of the Justice League, she was asked to join by the Martian Manhunter. The Nth metal knife, which was used to kill Hawkgirl in her original Egyptian life as Chay-Ara, ended up having a mystical effect upon her soul and that of her lover Khufu, who would become Hawkman.

With the ability to reincarnate, both the Shiera Sanders and the Kendra Saunders versions of Hawkgirl have cheated death and returned time after time. Because she possesses an Nth metal belt and boots, Hawkgirl has enhanced strength and durability, as well as accelerated healing, along with her artificial feathered wings. Hawkgirl is also a master of various fighting styles and archaic weaponry. Due to her many past lives, she has a vast amount of experience, and is both a formidable warrior and a genius-level tactician.

After his death, Khufu's soul was reincarnated countless times in markedly different eras and locations. Some of his known reincarnated identities have included:. Eventually, the soul of Prince Khufu was reborn as Carter Hall, an archaeologist active during the s. After regaining the memories of his first and early life in Egypt, Hall used the hawk motif of the Egyptian God Horus to inspire his role as the original Hawkman.

During the same period, his love Chay-Ara was reborn as archaeologist Shiera Sanders. After the two met, she became Hawkgirl, fighting at Carter's side. They became founding members of the Justice Society of America , and Hawkman took the role of chairman.

The pair reduced their activities in the early s but became fully active again decades later when first Carter and then Sheira joined the Justice League of America while continuing to also work with the revived JSA. The two had a son, Hector Hall , who eventually became a founding member of Infinity Inc.

The Norse god Odin tried unsuccessfully to give a crystal sphere containing this repeating Ragnarok to Dream , lord of the Dreaming as a trade, knowing that Dream had by this time selected Carter's grandson, Daniel Hall , as his successor.

Back on Earth meanwhile, others took up the mantles of Hawkman and Hawkwoman, first Thanagarian spy Fel Andar and his human wife , and then a more benevolent pair of Thanagarians. Years after they vanished, Hawkman and the JSA returned to the modern day when a primitive but super powered tribe volunteered to substitute themselves in the Ragnarok cycle. Soon after, however, death seemingly found Carter once again during the events of Zero Hour.

He and his wife Shiera seemingly merged with Katar Hol , a Thanagarian police officer who had succeeded Carter as Hawkman in his absence, as a new incarnation of Hawkman who briefly acted as host to the mysterious "hawk god" creature.

This individual was active for a short time but soon lost his sanity and was banished to Limbo it was eventually revealed that Shiera's soul had actually migrated to the body of her great-niece, Kendra Saunders , who had committed suicide.

Seeking a champion to stop the evil Onimar Synn from enslaving the planet, the priests used Kendra's centuries-old connection to Carter to bring him back to the mortal plain. Following this unorthodox resurrection, Hall retained all the memories of his past lives, as well as those of Katar Hol , the Thanagarian Hawkman.

It has since been stated that the soul of Katar Hol has passed on from Limbo and that Carter no longer retains his memories, though his current form still retains some of Hol's physical characteristics notably his dark hair. His quest as a hero took him from the streets of St. Roch to exotic dimensions and even into outer space as he fought in the Rann-Thanagar War. Following this event, Carter stayed in space for some months in order to help mediate the truce on Rann and avenge the murder of Shayera Thal , who as Hawkwoman had been the partner of the late Katar Hol.

As a result, Hawkgirl was left by herself to patrol and protect St. Returning to space to help during the Rann-Thanagar Holy War, Carter was approached by the Demiurge, a nameless god who inspired Plato into describing his namesake. The Demiurge denounced the cycle of incarnation and rebirths of Khufu and Chay-Ara as lies, simple grafts of the alternate versions of Carter and Shiera residing in the different worlds of the multiverse that existed before the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
